Instrumentation
The laboratory has recently acquired new equipment - 6890 GC/MS with chemical ionization - and is undertaking the validation of the methods for the analysis of some organochlorine pesticides and PCB by introducing EPA method 8720. New standards are being procured.

Costs to clients
Presently, the laboratory does not have a costing system for external clients since as a public institute it is providing services in contingency situations to Dirección de Ecología y Protección del Ambiente (DEPA) in DIGESA.

History
The present laboratory has been transferred from the ex-CEPIS-OPS with the aim to redesign it and install the equipment not only for the analysis of organic pollutants but also for inorganic analysis. It has got new chromatographs, which replace the old equipment.
